Just purchased Sonic RecordNow Deluxe 7.3 from the Sonic website after
reading all about its "legendary" 212-character long filename handling.
Having got well fed up with Nero and its eagerness to rename files to suit
its lenght limitations I thought I'd give something else a try.
It has an "ISO Level 2" option which promises the "212 character maximum"
filenames, and this seems to work OK writing to CDs, BUT no luck so far
writing to DVD-R or DVD+RW with my trusty NEC 1300 drive.
When "Burn" is selected it pauses for a moment then lists the offending
files, saying that they cannot be written and the maximum length is 106
characters. Well that's a bit of a surprise because I've already selected
the "212 character max" option in the Data (Advanced) options. This was the
whole point of buying this software - hopefully I haven't purchased a
"lemon"!
Has anyone got Really Long Filenames working on DVDs?
I've fired off a question to Sonic support - we'll see!
Regards,
Simon.
